Message from the Principal

Welcome to East Otago High School. We are proud of what our students do and what they achieve. No matter the field of endeavour our students are renowned for their high levels of participation and the quality of our student successes.

Our 2014 NCEA results were quite exceptional with a 96% pass rate at Level 1, a 95% pass rate at Level 2 and a 100% pass rate at Level 3. We are certainly delighted with what is an outstanding series of results. At our school, students have the opportunity to achieve the level of qualifications they will need for their future careers. Culturally, our school’s kapa haka is highly regarded within the Otago province. Our choir too, contains high numbers with almost twenty percent of the school keen to be part of it.

In the sporting field we consistently perform above that expected for a school of our size. Our students thrive in all sporting contests. We are, for example, the New Zealand Secondary Schools Boy’s Curling Champions. In addition, we are both the South Island Secondary Schools individual female Duathlon champion and the South Island Mixed Teams Triathlon Champions. Indeed, I do commend the Otago Daily Times article with links provided on this website on one of our Head Students, Olivia Ollerenshaw. Her story is an inspiration to all and Olivia represents all the qualities we seek for all our students to possess.

We are a school of high achievers and incredibly proud of it. We welcome enquiries.
