Message from the Principal

Welcome to East Otago High School. I regard it as a privilege to lead what is a high quality, high achieving school. We are a friendly, caring and family oriented local school proud of who we are and what we achieve.

Lennox Sharp (Principal)

We aim to produce students who are capable, confident and outgoing with the skills they will need to become positive and valued members of society. We want our young people to leave East Otago High School with the choice as to what they want to do and what they want to be. Indeed, we seek for them to dream of the best possible future and then, with the assistance of school, to make it a reality.

East Otago High School students perform well in all aspects of school life. Academically, particularly in both Level 1 and Level 2 our results are significantly above the national average. By way of example over half of our Year 11 students achieved NCEA Level 1 endorsed with Merit in 2012. Students, especially in our senior school, benefit greatly from learning in relatively small class sizes. East Otago High School is a school of participators with a high percentage involved in both sport and cultural activities. Our sports teams consistently perform above that expected for a school of our size and our type and we offer competitive sporting opportunities in a wide variety of sports. In addition, both our Choir and Kapa Haka group are strongly supported within the school.

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any queries or questions. I would be delighted to have the opportunity of showing you our school and what we can offer as we are proud of our students and our school.
