Upcoming NCEA Literacy & Numeracy Co-requisite Assessments

Who is this for?

Most Year 10, 11, and 12 students who have not yet passed one or more of the Literacy or Numeracy co-requisite assessments will be re-sitting them next week.

✅ What Are the Literacy and Numeracy Co-requisites?

These are online national assessments designed to measure essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills.
They are compulsory – students must pass all three (Numeracy, Reading, and Writing) to receive any NCEA Level 1, 2, or 3 certificate, regardless of how many subject credits they earn.

🗓️ Assessment Dates and Times

Exams will be in C8 & C9 – SAC students will be collected from lessons.

●     Reading – Tuesday, 20th May (8:40 AM)
●     Numeracy – Wednesday, 21st May (9.15 AM)
●     Writing – Thursday, 22nd May (8:40 AM)

Students should arrive at school on time, well-rested, and ready to go.

🧠 Special Assessment Conditions (SAC)

Students who are entitled to SAC support (such as a reader/writer, extra time, or separate space) will have these in place.
The assessments are spread over two weeks to allow time for support and recovery between tests.

🙋‍♀️ How Can Parents and Whānau Help?

●     Ensure your child is at school on time for each assessment

●     Encourage early nights and healthy breakfasts on exam days

●     Talk to them about the importance of passing these co-requisites

●     Remind them to take the assessments seriously – they are essential for gaining any NCEA certificate

●     If your child receives SAC, check they know what to expect and feel comfortable with the arrangements
